THERMAL STRESSES

Picture showing Thermal Stresses

" Thermal stresses are the stresses induced in a body due to change in temperature."
When there are fluctuations in the temperature, body is not allowed to expand or contract resulting in 'THERMAL STRESSES'.
                       Thermal stress is given by,
Thermal stress = (Co-efficient of linear expansion)*(Rise in  temperature)*(Young's Modulus)
